You are not going to lose weight by exercising. You can run and jump and skip and hop as much as you want (and it won’t be much if you are not fit) but you will still have your fatty bulges…. unless… you eat less… and perhaps drink less alcohol…
I know, that’s ridiculous. You hardly eat a thing and you rarely drink beer. Like I really believe you. Your fat just appears because of the air you breathe.
You have to eat less, a lot less if you want to lose weight. There are very few people who actually work physically hard but everybody seems to think they have the need to eat lots of fuel.
You can’t keep filling up your belly if you are not converting it to fuel. You have to learn to get used to feeling hungry and then you will notice the weight will start dropping off. You will not die if occasionally you miss a meal. You will not collapse if you stop snacking.
I just had 2 months break from boxing training, after 3 years of consistent training.
I thought that I would probably die near the end of the first session. Amazingly I didn’t, in fact I did very well. I really don’t get it.
It seems that the body sometimes needs time to assimilate it’s lessons. It doesn’t disintegrate overnight. So it won’t hurt if every now and then you indulge in a little more food or a little less training for a week or two. Justa as long as you get back to the original pattern again all will be well.

It’s not easy to get fit. It takes a lot of consistent effort and a lot of patience. If you think you can join a fitness class, martial art or any active sport and be fit in a few weeks, you are in for disappointment. Read the rest of this entry »

Martial arts, boxing and I guess, even life requires the ability to focus. You have to know where you want to be and you have to focus on looking for opportunities to get there.
